I was very happy with the apartment. It was beautiful and clean, located in a lovely building, with an excellent location right in the city centre. I also had a very pleasant experience communicating and working with the owners.

There were cafés and local shops just a 2–3 minute walk from the apartment, and a large supermarket about 8–10 minutes away.

There were cafés serving excellent coffee and healthy food options right around the corner.

I felt right at home here during my 30-day workation.

The apartment is almost brand new, with a few loose bolts here and there. The entire building, a former university of fine arts, has been beautifully renovated.

The location couldn’t be better. It’s just a few blocks from the main squares and the promenade. The street has very little car traffic but still feels lively.

Parking is very limited. Closest parking is 5 minutes away, but for cheaper 24h options have to walk 15min

The washer and dryer are in the kitchen, and you can borrow an iron from the shared space.
WiFi was super fast (500 Mbit fiber).
When I booked it, the price was much lower than the market, so I expected some compromises:
The unit is on the back side. It’s on the first floor, with limited sunlight and a view of… the neighbors’ windows.
There is ongoing construction in the adjacent building. Expect some noise for a few hours around midday.
There’s a restaurant with a patio right under the window, which was quite busy on some days. The Christmas songs and tasty smells were a bit distracting, but tolerable.
That said, for the price, I would choose it again. Just don’t forget your noise-canceling earbuds if you plan to work there.

This is a very well located and equipped property. There are a few supermarkets just a few minutes away and restaurants offering good variety that are open until late (11pm), so you can grab a late night dinner after long day in the nature. The location is just above a busy street, but it's Funchal, not Porto Moniz or Sao Vicente, so expected it to be a bit more livelier. There is also a bus just a minute away zipping you straight into the city centre. Property had absolutely all amenities starting from kitchen equipment to a washing machine, which was very handy, and also a garage to park the rented vehicle. There is a balcony and also a huge terrace on the side, which could be great for families or larger companies to have some dinner/breakfast together.
"An Island Apart" as a landlord has been very responsive and made the stay convenient for us - easy check-in, loads of useful information upon arriving and quick responses to questions. Apart from minor quirks like squeaky bed slats (which could and should easily be replaced!), everything else was perfect!

The landlord was helpful, friendly, and very responsive. I genuinely have nothing negative to say about them!
The flat was great, I would happily stay there again. The location is convenient, at most a 30-minute walk to anything central, including the ocean. You will need to walk uphill to get back, of course, but that's true of anything in Funchal that isn't right on the water.
The internet speed was about 50 Mbps up and down, with an older WiFi version, but it was steady and I had no issues with it.
There are some small issues around the flat, but I'm not sure they're even worth mentioning. It's not luxury, so if that's what you need you need to look elsewhere, but for a nice, normal, place to stay with everything you need to be comfortable: I'd recommend it without hesitation.

The flat is on one of the large streets that go up the hills through central Funchal. Large grocery stores are a 20-30 minute walk away. You won't find much immediately surrounding the flat, but walk 10-20 minutes down the hill and you'll find everything.
The lighting isn't exactly bright at night, but I never once felt unsafe walking back.

The space was beautifully designed, modern, small yet spacious enough to stretch out, and in a central spot in Funchal. You are steps away from restaurants, farmacy, shops, and Santa Catarina park. I appreciate the support of the building manager — they are super responsive to any requests and were flexible with my new checkout date. My only suggestion is for the building team to do a deeper clean of the bedsheets/duvet and the floor. Other than that, great price for a tastefully designed flat.

Very nice house, nice view

Really nice location and everything as promised - i enjoyed my stay.

The apartment is managed by a company called An Island Apart and they were very good. The apartment is very comfortable and we spent many hours on the balcony high above the Atlantic Ocean. Being on the sixth floor, you get a lovely cool breeze coming into the apartment even when it is hot down on the street.

The neighborhood is about a ten minute drive from "downtown" Funchal and has a large number of restaurants, a shopping mall, several small fruit and veg outlets and a large grocery store.

Pictures speak for themselves. Maybe small improvement would be to make sure that all the folders with intelligent information about the surroundings and the house are clearly wisible. We found one important flyer with this info lying flat at the side of the couch 10 days after we moved in and figured all out on our own at the cost in time ;)

Some surprisingly high rated restaurants are run by quite abominable people (on the inside) but the majority are nice and friendly. Our best experiences were outside Funchal though.

The parks in reach of cable cars are amazing, especially the tropical park. P.S. while the Portuguese parliament is on holiday and the mask vending machines were lobbied in, the use of masks is still on in public transport including cable cars...

Great flat, clean, close to the seaside & well equipped. Does have very little sunlight, unfortunately.

The apartments are conveniently located in the heart of the city. At the same time, the territory is green and private. There is everything you need right down to the smallest detail. Fast Wi-Fi is good for work.

Take a walk there in the evening when it's dark and people turn on the lights in their houses on the mountain. It is beautiful.

Great stay! All clean, everything you need, central location, quick responses from landlord on question. Easy check in and check out. Would definitely stay again when back to Funchal.

The flat looks better in reality than in pictures. The apartment is situated on 2nd floor, the view from windows and from it's own (small) balcony is towards internal courtyard. The balcony in the picture is on 4th floor, it is a spacious balcony on top of the building with access for all tenants. You have chairs, table and shade-umbrella in the apartment, that you can take it up there. From there, you have great ocean and airplane-spotting view. Underground parking place and free outside parking available. Big screen TV which can be used as monitor, with clear picture and great choice of channels. Two fixed and one mobile power extension sockets. Plenty of closet space.
Fruit and vegetables, and some basic stuff (beer, vine, drinks, dry stuff which does not need cooling) shop just under the building. Two small supermarkets at about 300m distance. Bus stops with timetable (SAM) for connections to Funchal and to the east of the island just 300m away, on the other side of the tunnel. There are closer bust stops towards the airport, but not all busses stops there. Lived there solo for two weeks in April-May, remote working, it was more than I needed. Suitable for 4 persons, even 5 if a smaller kid can sleep on the sofa or with parents on the king-sized bedroom bed.

Beautiful neighborhood, almost (maybe 50m) above see level. This is important, as you do not need to go uphill much.
Not so many shops though, quite small scale compared to Machico (the next city on the other side of the airport).
Really close to airport, you can walk to/from terminals in about 20-25 min. 2min with bus.

Small and beautiful city center, with relatively good priced restaurants.

The apartment is perfectly located, central, close to everything in a calm side street right between the busy streets. The restaurants right below the apartment are very nice and serve very good food, less expensive than in the main streets. The cuban restaurant also makes delicious cocktails.
The apartment itself is as described, nicely layed out and for me the bed has the perfect mattress. The kitchen has all necessary equipment for simple cooking. It’s definitely nothing for elaborate meals. There’s just not really space to work.
The only thing which was a bit disturbing at times, was the lack of sound isolation to the apartment below. If the neighbours are in the bathroom every word is hearable, as it were in the same room. Anyway that was only rarely the case, so no big thing for me.

There is a lot to see in the city and surrounding.

Location is perfect, however the flat is quite old (furniture, equpiment - for example the table was almost falling apart). We were also not perfectly happy with the cleanliness.

Great apartment, we had an amazing stay for 3 weeks. There are 2 reserved parking spaces, the apartment is modern and has everything we needed for a long stay.

Great location. Apartment is nice, there is just problem with ants and we had two cockroaches in bathroom once.

Very nice apartment, I spend there very good time on Madeira. Landlord was helpful and kind.

The property manager was really nice and came even on a Sunday to fix something in the house.
The property however needs some checking, there was a weird noise coming from the entrance area outside of the 4th floor and the smoke detectors probably needs to be changed.
Except for that, the apartment has everything that you need and the location is super, right in the center

Very clean. Beatiful balcony, fast wifi and good location.

Only downside is that it can get a bit loud in the night since there is a bar on the other side of the street.

We had a great stay in the apartment. The communication with the owner was easy, fast and if we needed something they tried to do everything in their power to fix the problem. We loved the apartment since it is very large, has an amazing balcony and large windows. The kitchen was also very well equipped. There were a few minor things broken for example a door handle or the water pipe in the kitchen - both things were fixed in 1 or 2 days when we announced the problem. All in all we would definitely recommend :)

It's a residential area and there's a main street in front of the building. It's very safe but it can be noisy due to the street and the MANY dogs who bark a lot - even in the night.

The Apartment is located in a good area in caniço, near Funchal City Center, the airport, and Machico. The Apartment has a lovely setting with good views. It's spacious for seven people, and it's within walking distance to the beach and good restaurants.

Some of the furniture and electrical devices were not working well, however there were always alternatives.
The wall between the living room and the nearest bedroom was soaked and maybe a bit moldy which is rather an esthetical issue and in the spirit of fairness in the weekend before we moved in there was a really really huge rain - which could resulted this as a force majeure.
An oven in the kitchen would have been really great in such a nice and well equipped apartment - we missed it sometimes.

The apartment is located centrally - you reach everything in a few minutes by foot. If you going to visit the landscape you can rent a car.
