The neighbourhood is in Alter do Chão, 20 to 30 minutes drive to Portalegre. It's a beautiful little town with a big Intermache Supermarket, tourist sites, good restaurants, etc.
Transportation in and out of Alter do Chão maybe a little awkward if you don't have a car and many people, especially older people speak only Portuguese. However the weather is fantastic, even during winter and the people very friendly.
